Deferred revenue waterfall, MRR bridge, and investor-ready reporting — with side letters treated as an anti-fraud control, not a footnote.
ŌSensei (formerly Sensei FinanceOS) · Financial Systems Architecture for growing companies
I rebuild finance on a Finance Operating System: a gated monthly close, plus cash, runway, investor reporting, and FP&A — delivered monthly.
The close runs on a Finance Operating System I designed and built — an agent-led close, with the major workflows run by an agent I direct and review.
These checks are from internal pilot builds, backtested on worked sample closes. They are not client results, and no client data was used.

Verticals
ŌSensei is built five times — once per vertical — on each industry's real accounting problems, gates, and controls. It installs on your existing accounting system, whatever that system is.
Deferred revenue waterfall, MRR bridge, and investor-ready reporting — with side letters treated as an anti-fraud control, not a footnote.
Clinical trial accruals as a key estimate, grant accounting and allowability, and R&D reporting built for scrutiny.
METRC reconciliation, 280E, shrink as a fraud indicator, and license tracking — from 11+ years as a cannabis Controller.
Standard cost, the five variances, and inventory count readiness — built on cost and inventory accounting experience.
Sports and live events together. The event is the unit of account: settlements, cash controls, and cancellation handling, event by event.
Full systems and a one-page sample for your vertical are available on request.

Engagements are designed around the point of friction: unreliable books, an inconsistent close, limited financial visibility, or manual finance work that no longer scales.
Cash forecasting, runway visibility, management reporting, budget-to-actual analysis, KPI design, and working-capital review — decision-ready and investor-ready.
Reconcile balance-sheet accounts, correct historical errors, clean the general ledger, resolve unsupported balances, and establish a reliable starting point for ongoing accounting.
Senior accounting leadership without the fixed cost of a full-time Controller: close oversight, technical accounting, controls, reporting, audit support, and finance-team direction.
The Finance Operating System installed on your existing accounting system: reconciliations, schedules, review checkpoints, responsibility matrices, recurring workflows, gates, and reporting deadlines.
Sensei runs the close on the installed system. The major workflows are run by an agent I direct and review; judgment, exceptions, and sign-off stay with a person. Repeatable work is automated only after the accounting is stable — with controls built in.
Fixed scope. Fixed price. Defined outcome. No hourly billing. The price is fixed after a short diagnostic, before work starts.
Approach
Automation is downstream of accounting quality. Sensei Advisors first establishes financial integrity, then builds a repeatable operating cadence, and only then automates the work that should be automated.
Identify close bottlenecks, unreliable balances, broken handoffs, duplicate work, and reporting gaps.
Reconcile accounts, correct the ledger, document assumptions, and establish a defensible financial baseline.
Build the monthly accounting cadence: tasks, schedules, controls, owners, reviews, deadlines — and gates that must pass before the close is called done.
Convert accurate accounting into cash visibility, operating insights, variance analysis, and management reporting.
Use finance systems, data pipelines, rules, and AI to reduce repetitive work while preserving review and control.
Audit-ready
Every ŌSensei build is built to US GAAP, with SEC-reporting discipline, SOX-ready controls, and a PCAOB layer — audit evidence and workpaper discipline built to PCAOB standards.
After the close gates pass, a separate audit-ready gate checks evidence, workpapers, and review. A failed G4 blocks the words “audit-ready,” not the statements.
Workpapers prepared to be audited: indexed, reviewed, and retained — so an auditor, investor, or acquirer can follow every number back to its support.
Segregation of duties, fraud and estimate controls, and IT and AI-agent controls are part of the system — not a cleanup project before the audit starts.
International
ŌSensei is one build with modular activation. Each client picks a US track or an International track — the system underneath is the same. Every standard is anchored two ways: to the FASB Codification and to IFRS Accounting Standards as issued by the IASB. FASB- and IASB-friendly by design, so a diligence team reads the same file on either side of the Atlantic — no translation.
Each entity carries its statutory framework, the group reporting framework, and its presentation currency on one register. Nothing is forced into a single framework.
Local statutory close first. Then the framework bridge. Then group consolidation, then the investor pack. The bridge ties with $0 unexplained — or the close does not pass Gate G5.
SAFEs, convertibles, preferred shares, and warrants are analysed under both frameworks before signing — because the same instrument can be equity in one framework and a liability in the other.
Statutory calendars, indirect taxes, withholding, and R&D credit evidence are captured in registers, and local advisors file. ŌSensei never replaces the local statutory accountant.

These checks are from internal pilot builds, backtested on worked sample closes. They are not client results, and no client data was used.
Across the five pilots: a UK lease bridge, biological assets at fair value, development costs capitalised under IAS 38, event withholding tied three ways, and a LIFO-to-FIFO conversion — every consolidated trial balance balanced, every bridge difference explained.
Who we help
You need cash visibility, runway you can trust, investor-ready reporting, and senior accounting judgment — but not yet a full internal Controller organization.
Your accounting function works, but the close, controls, reporting, or systems need structure before the next stage of growth.
SaaS, biotech, cannabis, manufacturing, and sports & entertainment — multi-entity, inventory, regulated, and system-heavy environments where generic bookkeeping is not enough.
Founder
JoMar Hester, MAcct, MSDS, brings more than two decades of accounting and finance experience, including Controller-level leadership, public accounting, operational accounting, financial reporting, controls, cost and inventory accounting, and finance-system implementation.
He started in public accounting at Grant Thornton (Top 10 National Firm). At Multi-Color Corporation he assisted drafting the 10-Q and 11-K and built the technical computations behind them, and executed SOX controls and the company side of external audits. He has 11+ years as a cannabis Controller and ran event accounting — settlements and cash controls — for arena and stadium events at ASM Global.
His work spans growing and regulated businesses where accounting must do more than record transactions: it must support operating decisions, withstand scrutiny, and scale. Sensei Advisors adds a modern technical layer to that foundation through data engineering, analytics, workflow automation, and AI-assisted finance processes.
The result is ŌSensei: a Finance Operating System designed and built by a Controller — repair what is unreliable, establish a disciplined gated close, improve management visibility, and automate only where automation strengthens the finance function.

FAQ
Two to three weeks. Week one maps your chart of accounts, close calendar, and workpapers. Week two builds the system and runs it against last month's actuals — the gates have to pass on real data before go-live. Week three is your first live close, with Sensei reviewing exceptions.
The one you already run. ŌSensei installs on your existing accounting system — it does not ask you to migrate ledgers. Connections cover the surrounding stack (payroll, billing, spend, banking); document upload covers the rest. And if you don't have a system yet, I'll recommend one based on your industry and the scope of your needs — that recommendation comes out of the diagnostic, before the install.
Your documents live in a private client workspace. Access is per client — your files are visible only to you and your Sensei team, never to other clients. System connections are made inside the workspace: sign-in through the provider where that exists, and any API token is stored server-side only, never in your browser or by email. Do not send credentials or sensitive data through the contact form or email — the workspace exists for that.
I do. The major workflows are run by an agent I direct and review; the agent prepares, it does not approve. Judgment, exceptions, and sign-off stay with a person, and a close is not called done until its gates pass and I have reviewed the exceptions.
Less than you are used to. Connected systems feed most of the close. You provide the documents that never live in the accounting system — through your workspace — answer the items marked Needs you, and approve the reporting pack. One person on your side who can answer questions is enough.
Fixed scope, fixed price, defined outcome — no hourly billing. The price is set after a short diagnostic, before work starts, so you know the full cost before you commit.
You send an inquiry. I run a short diagnostic on your books and your systems. Then you get the scope, the price, and the schedule in writing, before work starts — the standard install runs on the two to three weeks above; a complex engagement carries a longer schedule, set in that same plan. Once you approve it, I set up your private workspace, and we start with your first close.
